Pregnancy

Car Seat Program

Pregnancy

Early Head Start provides comprehensive support to expectant mothers throughout pregnancy and beyond. Families receive prenatal education through weekly home visits using a research-based curriculum designed to support healthy pregnancies and prepare families for parenthood. We connect expectant mothers with prenatal health care, nutrition resources such as WIC, and dental services, while also providing support for mental and emotional well-being. Families receive guidance on labor and delivery, breastfeeding, infant care, and safe sleep practices, along with opportunities for partners and family members to be actively involved in preparing for the arrival of their baby.

Birth-3

Car Seat Program

Pregnancy

Early Head Start provides comprehensive services to infants, and toddlers from birth to age three, supporting children and families during the earliest and most important years of development. We recognize that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers and partner with families to build strong relationships and promote healthy development. Services are provided directly in the family’s home through weekly 90-minute visits with a trained Family Educator, who offers developmentally appropriate activities focused on child development, health, and positive parent-child interactions.

Car Seat Program

Car Seat Program

Through the Ohio Department of Health’s Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB) Program, eligible low-income families in Adams and Brown Counties may receive a free child safety or booster seat. Adams Brown Early Head Start, a division of ABCAP, coordinates the program locally to help families access appropriate car seats and learn how to use and install them correctly.

To qualify, families must meet WIC income guidelines, live in Adams or Brown County, and may receive one seat per eligible child. Parents or caregivers must attend a brief child passenger safety education class provided by trained Early Head Start staff. Seats are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last; a waiting list may be used when inventory is depleted.

Diapers

Socializations

Enrolled families receive free diapers once a month.

Socializations

Socializations

Families also participate in group socializations twice a month, giving children opportunities to play and learn with other children while parents connect with other families and share experiences and parenting strategies.

In addition, Early Head Start connects families with prenatal health and nutrition resources, developmental screenings, community resources, and social services to support the overall well-being and success of each child and family.
